Assistant Manager, Crisis Center (#2522)
Responsible for the direct care and supervision of youth who reside in the Residential Services Crisis Center in a manner which reflects the mission, philosophy and policies of Covenant House. Establish a positive rapport with the youth we serve while maintaining a professional relationship. Provide support and supervision to the youth in the Crisis Center. Manage the day-to-day activities according to Covenant House Washington Policies and Procedures. Ensure the facility is secure at all times. Review goals and objectives with youth on a bi-weekly basis. Respond to Nineline crisis calls as necessary. Maintain an environment in which the needs of the youth are addressed in a manner that is comfortable, motivating, and secure for them. Conduct intake assessments as necessary. Counsel youth as necessary in a manner that includes, respect, honesty, non-judgment and empathy. Lead and/or participate in group activities and meetings for youth as assigned. Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings as necessary.
Bachelors degree preferred and at least 5 years experience working with at-risk youth.

The Communications Specialist is charged with assisting the Director of Communications in promoting the activities and accomplishments of the agency and the youth it serves in a manner that raises public awareness and motivates targeted audiences to support the agency via financial and personal resources. Position assists the Director of Communications in coordinating special events, producing and disseminating various publications, enhancing media relations, and maintaining a positive Internet presence. Develop and maintain a story bank of youth profiles that can be published in various publications and used with press releases, grant applications, and on the agency's website. Write and disseminate press releases in a timely manner to attract appropriate media attention. Assist various units in developing promotional materials for special activities. Maintain updated media contacts list with emphasis on outlets that meet the needs and interests of the agency's targeted audiences. Maintain news clips—press and broadcast—of agency focused stories. Assist in maintaining up-to-date and accurate information on the agency's website. Proofread all major publications produced by division. Perform other duties as assigned. Placement and Retention Coach (#24555)
The incumbent is responsible for ensuring the successful completion of the training and/or career track job opportunities developed for youth who present themselves to CHW for service. Responsible for working closely with the Career Assessment Specialist, the Training and Job Development Specialist, the Vocational Skills Specialist, Service Managers and the Employment Development Advisory Board to maximize successful placement outcomes for youth. The position will assist youth to achieve more effective personal, educational and vocational development and adjustment in a manner that exemplifies the mission and principles of Covenant House and which recognizes that every youth will be treated immediately with respect, individuality and honesty. Develop training opportunities for CHW youth by building relationships with various schools and other training facilities who are willing to work with CHW youth. Place youth into training and/or employment opportunities and provide follow-up tailored to identified needs of the youth and/or the training site and the employers.
Confer with youth, other members of the Education and Workforce Development team and Service manager to discuss their options, aptitudes, education levels and career goals so that an Individual Service Strategy can be developed. May have responsibility for authorizing expenditures and payments for training and employment costs related to youth. Maintain close contact with youth during job training and placements, in order to resolve problems and evaluate placement adequacy. Monitor and record clients' progress in order to ensure that goals and objectives are met. Provide staff support to the Employment Development Advisory Board. Assist in the development, review and provision of an Employer Incentive Program. Analyze and review youth assessment reports and individual service plans to ensure that training and career opportunities developed are consistent with youth needs and interests. Maintain a current network of community contacts and organizations to assist the youth. Counsel and advise youth of vocational and educational opportunities and potential. Investigate the efficacy of using and implementing appropriate employment models such as supported work, teaming and work crews. Represent CHW at various external functions. Develop and implement quality assurance techniques to ensure program services.
Instruct youth in work readiness/life skills. Perform other duties as assigned. Education: Bachelor's Degree required in human services field. Experience: Two years of experience working with runaway, homeless or at-risk youth preferred. Knowledge: Knowledge of Computer-based education and training (CBET) and assessment systems. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Excellent organizational skills. Understanding of issues affecting the lives of urban youth and means by which their quality of life can be improved.

Grants Manager/Development Associate (#5103)
The incumbent is responsible for the development and production of grants and contract proposals to federal agencies, corporations, and foundations. Responsible for identifying new sources of funding and sustaining relationships with current funders. Work collaboratively with program directors to identify and develop proposals. Ensure efficient grants acquisition, implementation, and renewal process. Lead development of system to integrate development and finance protocol for grants. Implement and supervise agency-wide comprehensive grants management system to ensure deadlines, outcomes, and deliverables are all achieved. Assist development department in annual corporate, United Way , and religious community campaigns. Work with development staff to ensure all activities are performed in a manner that reflects the mission, philosophy and policies of Covenant House. Oversee research of corporations and foundation prospects and ensure development of proposals for submission to appropriate prospects. Research funding opportunities that align with the CHW strategic plan. Develop a balance of program and general operating support funding streams. Attend program staff meetings to provide information on grant opportunities and to discuss process for application. Identify opportunities and develop proposals for submission to district and federal government agencies for services consistent with the CH Mission and Vision for presentation to program staff and lead development of proposals from RFP announcement through submission. Communicate with staff to ensure all proposal deadlines are met and that each proposal is of the highest quality. Coordinate program staff for preparation of reports to funders and production of reports according to guidelines. Prepare staff for funder meetings and cultivate relationships with program staff at foundations and partner organizations. Monitor proposal deadlines, prepare and edit proposals including narratives, budget, and supporting documentation, and manage proposal submissions. Manage database of grants submitted and received, as well as reporting requirements. Ensure that stewardship and reporting requirements are met to sustain successful corporate, government, and foundation relationships. Develop a calendar of future funding opportunities and renewal grants. Assist Development and Communications teams with information related to the Annual report and other communication materials. Work closely with Development Assistant on annual corporate and church community campaigns. Perform other duties as assigned. Education: Bachelor's degree in a related field. Experience: One to three years progressively responsible experience in the field of development with a focus on grants management. Experience in government, corporate, foundation and major donor solicitation. Experience writing grant proposals. Knowledge: Computer literacy. Proficient in Windows environment. Prepare acknowledgement letters and other correspondence and ensure each mailing is sent out within agency time limits. Maintain individual donor files. Provide primary support to Major Gifts Officer in the research, input and maintenance of individual and major giving donor information. Continually update and correct donor database records. Generate monthly fundraising and other database reports as needed. Work with Program Staff to develop and PowerPoint presentations to funders.
