Covenant House Washington was established in May 1995 to address widespread problems of homelessness and poverty among teenagers and young adults. As part of the international Covenant House organization-the largest privately funded childcare agency-Covenant House Washington is guided by the principles of Immediacy, Sanctuary, Values Communication, Structure, and Choice.

Saturday, August 28 will be a day of celebration and fun for families and community members in southeast Washington. Covenant House Washington will host Community Fest, 1 – 7 p.m. at the Nancy Dickerson Whitehead Community Service Center, 2001 Mississippi Avenue, SE. This year’s theme is New Hope . . . New Beginning . . . New Day.

Throughout the day community members can participate in an array activities including 3-on-3 basketball, health screenings, mini massages, music and food. A Community Talent Show is also planned. Singers, rappers, poets and dancers are invited to share their unique skills to promote peace and harmony in the community.

Community Fest was created to promote the importance of family and healthy relationships in a fun-filled atmosphere. For more information, call 202-610-9630.
