Mayoral Proclamation designating May 3 as Covenant House Day in the city. The Proclamation, presented during the opening ceremony on the agency’s first day of operation, welcomed Covenant House to the nation’s capital, citing a rare opportunity to enter into a joint public-private partnership which will offer support services to enhance the quality of life for children and teenagers who once lived in despair. |

Council of the District of Columbia Resolution honoring youth selected for the 1997 Young Ambassadors Program. Resolution designated April 4 as Young Ambassadors Day in the city. The Young Ambassadors program afforded disadvantage youth the opportunity to travel abroad, visiting the cities of Paris and London. The all-expensed paid trip was funded anonymously. |
