As part of the international Covenant House organization, the largest privately funded childcare agency in the United States, Covenant House Washington is guided by the principles of:
Immediacy
Shelter, food, clothing and care will be provided or sought for youth.
Sanctuary
Shelter and protection from the danger of street life and abuse will be offered.
Values Communication
Youth will be respected, treated honestly and shown they can live successfully without street values.
Structure
Counseling, training, and other productive activities will be available.
Choice
Emotional support and other assistance will be available to help youth discover and choose workable life alternatives.
