Covenant House is the largest privately funded, nonprofit childcare agency in the United States providing food, shelter, emergency and support services to at-risk, homeless, throwaway and runaway youth. It was incorporated in New York City in 1972, and has since expanded to New Orleans, Houston, Fort Lauderdale, Orlando, Los Angeles, Anchorage, Newark, Atlantic City, Washington, DC, Detroit, Oakland, St. Louis, and Philadelphia. Programs have also been established in Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Toronto and Vancouver.

Covenant House provides multiple forms of direct assistance and intervention services to abused, neglected, homeless and at-risk youth including street out-reach, health care, job placement, academic remediation, vocational training, substance abuse treatment and prevention programs, advocacy and legal services, recreation, and aftercare.
