Street & Community Outreach

Outreach No day is ever the same when you are on the streets. Stocked with water, juice, and potato chips, the Mobile Outreach Support Team (MOST) is often the first line of contact with young people who are in need of the programs and services offered by Covenant House Washington. Known as the God Squad, MOST members travel through the roughest neighborhoods, scouring the toughest streets to talk to and listen to the toughest kids on the block. Outreach Specialists travel daily to schools, community centers, and neighborhood hot spots offering advice, encouragement, and emergency assistance to youth in times of crisis.

On the streets weekdays from 10 a.m. to 1 a.m., MOST members use a variety of strategies, including Movie Night and after school tutorial sessions to get youth engaged in a positive outlet. With compassion as their trademark, MOST regularly distributes food to needy families, with peak efforts being Thanksgiving Baskets and Christmas give-a-ways. The team offers hygiene supplies to kids on the street and is instrumental in assisting with hypothermia campaigns during the winter, distributing blankets as needed. During summer months, the team assists with hyperthermia campaigns, passing out cold water as needed. CHW MOST members are committed to letting those on the streets know that Covenant House Washington is there for them.
