Service Management
In addition to giving youth personalized attention, the service management team created two gender-specific support groups to help youth not only learn from one another, but also understand the importance of working with each other to change their circumstances. Boyz to Men and Sistas of Soul help mold youth into responsible adults by employing strategies that assist them in identifying and overcoming negative behaviors that prevent them from becoming self-sufficient. Staff expose group members to various cultural and developmental activities to enhance their viewpoint of life and broaden their expectations for the future. The groups meet bi- weekly and address such issues as: Goal Setting, Personal Strengths and Growth, Important Factors in Parenting, Effective Communication, Conflict Resolution, and Self-Esteem. Staff working with the support groups work to expose participants to various cultural activities to assist them in discovering new ways to view life and broaden their expectations for the future. Fully committed to an open intake philosophy, Service Management ensures that no youth in crisis is ever turned away. |

Helping youth move from a state of crisis to a state of calm assurance is the primary charge of Service Management. Service managers assume the vital role of identifying and securing much-needed services to help youth in crisis meet their immediate and long-term goals. Focused on the total well being of youth, service managers link youth to an array of services such as: housing, day care, and medical care. They work tirelessly to make youth aware of education and job opportunities, providing clothing, food, and access to transportation to make sure youth are adequately prepared to take advantage of positive life-altering opportunities. Acting as youth advocates, they work with youth one-on-one to develop an Individual Service Plan that accurately identifies their needs. Together, youth and Service Managers establish objectives to ensure that the plan is implemented in a timely manner. Progress is measured in regular intervals.
