Volunteer at CHW

The Volunteer Involvement Program (VIP) welcomes individuals, groups, families, and corporations who want to contribute their time to working with at-risk youth. Volunteers are an intricate part of Covenant House Washington’s effort to remedy issues affecting many youth in the Washington Metropolitan area. Volunteers can lend their expertise in programming, environmental, administrative, and general support areas. Placement is determined based on need and the talents of the individual to maximize the experience for everyone. Please consider donating your time to help youth of our nation’s capital region.

As a volunteer you can:

  • Assist with environmental projects

How can you become a volunteer?

It is easy, just 6 simple steps.

  1. Complete the Online Volunteer Interest Form

  2. Complete and return the Volunteer Packet. Packet will be mailed to you upon receipt of the Volunteer Interest Form

  3. Schedule an Interview with the Volunteer Services Coordinator.

  4. Agree to a Reference and Background check*

  5. Attend a Volunteer Orientation, designed to acquaint you with the policy and procedures of the agency as well as the expectations of your volunteer assignment

  6. Begin sharing your time and talents as a volunteer

* Because of the nature of the organization and the population we serve, all volunteers must successfully complete a reference and background check before donating their time and service to Covenant House Washington.
